Today is my last day in Austin Texas.  I have been here for 7 days.  The entire trip has been wonderful.

I have had a great time and enjoyed myself to the fullest.  What I have learned about myself is my definitionof the terms in the title above have changed for me.  Over time I have grown in a direction that feels much better than the old definition; EAT and DRINK!  Yikes.  Eating is definately a part of my trip…………but not PIGGING OUT!

This trip has been full of activities.  I have done so much every single day that I would not be able to do if the “OLD HABITS” were present.  Check out what I have done:

Worked out every single morning.  Went to dinner out every night.  Seaworld, Lake Travis, Water Park, Swimming Pool, Live music, dancing, sushi, birthday celebration for my nephew.  It has been non stop.

My energy has been great.  I started off every single morning with my traditional breakfast, coffee, egg whites, oats, blueberries, water……….and then the gym. This set me up for a GREAT  TIME and (SEXYFITBODY IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT) looking and feeling my best……..

The absence of alcohol has been a big change for me.  I would traditionally have a few drinks each day or night and probably not exercise as much(I have always worked out on every single vacation I have ever taken….hahahaha).  I would not be as conscious about my food niether.  And of course I would not feel as good or look as good or have as much fun.

The changes feel so good.

My diet has been very good.  I have allowed my self a few deserts because that is what I LOVE.  I just make sure I am on track with everything and then I do not feel bad about having a desert.  I enjoy it so much more because I feel GREAT and my clothes fit and I am not miserable because I PIGGED OUT or DRANK to much and just need another drink to deal…….hahahaha.

You know what I mean!

I am excited to get back to Las Vegas!

angela_red_rock_139bwangela_red_rock_174My first photo shoot.  I planned this photo shoot 2 days after my figure competition.  My thoughts were that I would get photos taken right after the competition so that I would still be as lean and tone as in the competition.

Well, I will not do that again.  It did not work out that way.  As soon as I drank water and ate a chicken breast that had sodium in it my body changed BIG TIME.  It was like it GRABBED everything in site because I was so dehydrated and depleted.

So, next time I do a shoot, It will have nothing to do with the competition. Everything is a learning experience for me!  Hehehe!

I want to do another one soon!

Hello!  I am on vacation for SEVEN DAYS!  Woohoo! I thought I would share with you how I prepare for a trip.  Now, I am on vacation, and I intend on living it up a bit, however, certain things about me are just the way I am.

When packing for my trip I had to have a workout bag and a snack bag.  The workouts and snacks have to be a part of my daily routine, otherwise, I know me and I will not feel good.  And I want to feel good when I am on vacation.

My snacks:  rice cakes, raw almonds, 100 calorie packs oatmeal, apples, carb rite bars, zizzaz.  I brought enough for a week.

My workout attire:  enough workout out clothes for 4 days.

I made sure I ate my egg whites, oats and blueberries with flax just before heading to the airport.  Drank a bunch of water and coffee too.  My plan on the plane was to read a great book and if I needed a snack, I would have a CARB RITE BAR and a bottle of water.  That is what I did.  I never ever go anywhere with out my food!  HAHAHA.

Soon as I landed my sister picked me up.  I was hungry again, and rather than go OUT to eat, I had my rice cakes apple and almonds!  Yummy and I felt great.  My sister laughed and said, “I knew you would have snacks with you!”.

Austin Texas is GORGEOUS!  It is also very muggy and HOT!  ugh!.  Downtown was great last night.  SUSHI for dinner and then dancing for a few hours.  I have to say, we did get home about 1130pm.  I was exhausted!

Dinner was delicious.  I had the SASHIMI plate.  8 peices of fresh fish, no rice.  I ordered a sweet potato that was on the menu and did not realize it was going to be FRIED!………………it was so good.  TEMPURA style.  Yep, I ate it.  Not too big, actually just 2 small peices and think it was like $15!  CRAZY!  Anyway, sashimi, tempura sweet potatoe and a SAKE BOMB!  Lots of fun and still keeping my healthy lifestyle in mind the entire time.  WE CAN live healthy and enjoy at the same time!

After dinner we went to Speakeasy. The band was great.  Disfunction Junction.  I had one cocktail and I was done.  Having not ate or drank out in the past 4 months, this was plenty for me.  One Sake and One cocktail…….it was time for me to go in…………..but the entire evening was great.  Laughing, talking with family, and dining on the freshest sashimi!

Going for a 3 mile run today with my sister!

Oh one more thing, I went to the grocery story this morning to get everything I would need for the week!  I’d rather eat in every day and save up for the going out at night!  Ya know!  My sister tells me we will be going to this one breakfast place for ELVIS PANCAKES!!!! Yikes!  Did you see ELVIS when he looked like a pancake!  I do not know about this!  hahahahaha!

Have a great day!  I will be updating daily!

I am amazed at what just took place this weekend!  I can’t wait to do it again.  I will compete in my second show in November in Las Vegas!

This show taught me so much. A year ago I would have never imaged I could be able to compete with other fitness professionals at this level!  I have just acomplished something that I was afraid I could never do………..practicing self control!  I did it!competition-june-6-2009-0082

I am almost there! I am a little nervous about the next seven days.  My energy level is going down a little everyday.  The mornings are no problem; the evenings are a big challenge.  For one I am very tired and for two I am very hungry!  LOL. I am always hungry.

This last week is so important.  I have to run the stairs each day for 20 minutes, teach my classes(3 more to teach), train every muscle group(one each day), and eat a diet that is FISH, broc, asparagus, spinach and egg whites.  That’s it! I know I can do it.  Thank heaven there is coffee……….I can have that!  Also, I must drink 2 gallons of water everyday…..oh except the last day NO WATER!  OMG!

I have been practicing walking and my posing in my 3 inch heels almost everyday.  I am getting better.  Stage presence is everything.  I have to be confident, smile, eye contact, and pose the right way!

I must say, I am loving this challenge and loving my body!  I am sure that I want to do the next show in November.

Anything is possible!  A year ago I said that I could never do this.  Now I am saying I want more!

pre-show-photo3Since training for this figure competition, I have been educated from another perspective.  One thing that has been an eye opener  is the amounts of sodium that is in our foods.  If you think you eat a low sodium diet, think again!

I have been paying attention to the amount of sodium in everything.  I went shopping for chicken; and prior to training for this competition, I  purchased the chicken breasts that are frozen in a bag.  I looked at the bag of chicken and it read 500mg of sodium per chicken breast.  I then went to the butcher and asked him about the chicken in the cooler and he said it was all the same.  All t he meat was injected with a salt solution in order to preserve it.

After that, I did find some chicken breast that was fresh and with out added salt.  The sodium levels on the chicken were 45 mg compared to 500mg in the bag of chicken!  Wow!  The cost was a bit more, however, I am happy to buy the lower salt.

Rest assured, we intake plenty of salt every single day!  We do not need a salt shaker!

If you are experiencing high blood pressure or water retention, sodium could be the culprit!

There is sodium in vegetables, egg whites, protein shakes, sugar free jello, rice, beef, bread, etc.  Yes, it is in everything.

I challenge you to watch your sodium and make a few changes.  Stay away from anything canned, boxed, preserved, etc.  Stick with fresh and your in good shape!  Literally!
